WHAT'S IN THE NAME?

Mindfully Align Physio has many layers of significance which pertain to your well-being as a whole person:
Physical Alignment

Proper postural and structural alignment play a major role in the reduction and elimination of pain. It also plays a major role in how your body mechanically functions both externally and internally, affecting things as deeply into the cells within you. Hormones, mood, behaviors, sleep patterns, intestinal regulation, and pelvic or reproductive health, for example, can be affected by an imbalance in physical alignment, affecting your body's external and internal ability to naturally flow as it should. Awareness, education, and expert guidance can help to Align you with your best self — the self that no longer has to settle for pain or discomfort.

Personal Alignment

Aligning with your own personal goals and values is a key component to honoring yourself and manifesting the life you desire. Aligning and working with the right person who genuinely values your total mind-body health is also very influential to your healing process. You will be supported in understanding and obtaining the necessary tools and knowledge for effective daily self care. In recognizing your self-worth, investing in your health and well-being, and Aligning with the right knowledge, resources, timing, and choices, you are taking the initiative toward achieving the healthiest and happiest version of your best self.

Mental + Emotional Alignment

Mindfulness involves pure awareness of the self and the ability to be fully present. In learning about your own body on many levels and to a higher standard and degree, you will be better equipped and able to care for your needs at any time you need to. Health is not solely a physical component. According to Merriam-Webster, “Health is the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit, especially freedom from physical disease or pain.” Mental, emotional, and environmental factors can impact your stress levels, thereby affecting pain and your physical state. Incorporating mindful practices and other modalities as needed, such as meditation, breath work, mental imagery, movement awareness, grounding & centering activities, Qi Gong, Reiki and proper daily self-care techniques can address and enhance your mental, emotional, and physical healing to support you as a whole person.

Further Support + Alignment

I can also Align or connect you with other appropriate professionals or health/healing practitioners as needed or seen fit before, after, or during your course of care. I will personally remain a solid source of support for you as we maintain open lines of communication from the moment we begin working together to even long after you have met your goals.

About
I received my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University and earned my B.A. in English from St. John’s University. I use an integrative approach that values and balances both holistic and scientific methodologies to help you address your specific and individual needs. I have over 15 years of experience in the field including extensive manual training in my specialty of JFB Myofascial Release (MFR). I am Reiki Level Two certified and looking forward to further self-developments in this complimentary healing modality. I also love to incorporate and teach meditation and Qi Gong practices to my patients as needed. I am proficient in Spanish and understand Tagalog. I graduated with Cum Laude Honors and other university awards in academia, leadership, and community service at St. John's University, was the recipient of the Community Service Award in my graduating Physical Therapy class at Stony Brook University, graduated class Valedictorian in my graduating class of 2000, and was an active athlete in many competitive sports throughout the years. It is my love for mind-body balance, self-awareness and serving, teaching, connecting with others, and witnessing my patients' life-changing results that make me extraordinarily passionate about what I do.
I have extensive experience from backgrounds in sports orthopedic clinics in addition to outpatient facilities specializing in geriatric care, chronic pain, McKenzie Method-based treatment, cardiopulmonary care, and Myofascial Release. I also have years of experience in the acute care hospital setting with patients post neck, back, abdominal, hip, knee, shoulder, and ankle surgeries as well as patients with various neurological conditions such as strokes.
The physical therapy profession has Aligned with my heart, lifestyle, and love for serving and educating others. After suffering from trauma and a whiplash injury that totaled my car which resulted from being rear-ended by a delivery truck, I discovered my passion in MFR. It was after being treated by highly skilled MFR therapists who guided and led me toward the path of authentic mind-body healing that I found my specialty. I am a firm believer in treating individuals as a whole person in mind, body, and spirit as opposed to a narrowly focused segment or pained body part. After experiencing nothing like this gentle, yet highly effective healing art on so many levels, I knew that I had to delve into the work myself so that I may share this unique treasure with the world.

I am a strong advocate for each person in my care. I provide a safe, trusted, and loving space for my patients for maximal and most optimal healing. I also enjoy spending time with those I love, spoiling my dog, going hiking, doing kickboxing, and training in martial arts, particularly in the art of Krav Maga.
I am truly happy and excited to support you in your wellness journey as we connect and Align!
more Benefits & Goals
HOW CAN I FURTHER HELP SOLVE YOUR CONCERNS?

My goal is to help you take care of you. If you are especially exhausted from masking symptoms with daily pain or anti-inflammatory medications or if you have tried everything from injections and traditional massage to multiple provider visits and all other alternative means without results or at most with only temporary relief, I am enthusiastic and confident about helping you.

If you have settled with the notion that you have to live with dis-ease or feelings of discomfort for the rest of your life, I am here to encourage, to educate, and to promote self-awareness about your body’s very own abilities to heal itself with the right clinical guidance— no matter how old something is or how long you have been in pain for. I will take the time to guide, teach, and lead you to helpful life changes that those under my care can say they have experienced for both themselves and their families.

The how & why
WHY ARE POSTURE AND WHOLE BODY ALIGNMENT SO IMPORTANT FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT AND OVERALL HEALTH?

Imagine building blocks sitting on an uneven surface or foundation. Now imagine trying to function with an uneven foundation in your body — daily, and without even knowing. Your pelvis is the main foundation of your body. With imbalances in your pelvis (ie. higher or rotated hip on one side), this affects everything above and below the chain, pulling many other parts of your body out of alignment and causing pain in many common areas of your body. Imbalances in your pelvis and throughout your body also lead to the exertion of more energy to compensate for the imbalances. Your body is, therefore, undergoing micro-trauma after micro-trauma, day-in and day-out, causing wear and tear and further and faster breakdown with every step and movement that you make. I am here to perform the appropriate assessments that are overlooked in traditional healthcare so that you know exactly what is occurring in your own body. And together we will address them appropriately.

We are naturally fluid beings. Your fascia — also known as the fluid-filled 3D connective tissue that holds your body up like a tent — encapsulates every muscle, bone, organ, and cell of your body. It is like a web or a knit sweater whereby if you were to pull on one strand from one end of the web or sweater, something distant and on the other end may also be pulled out of place due to the entire web or sweater being connected. From head to toe, you are all connected.
Tight or restricted fascia resulting from pelvic imbalances can pull your bones, joints, muscles, nerves, vessels, and organs out of alignment and it is, therefore, important to receive the appropriate assessments and treatments. Because fascial restrictions can even extend into your cranium and brain, this can affect things such as hormone regulation, sleep patterns, behavior, concentration, mood, your five senses, and more. Fascial restrictions can even affect the flow of your intestines and its regularity in addition to things such as bladder control. The integrity of your fascia and the restrictions caused by an imbalance in your body's foundation at the pelvis can cause a domino effect of several areas of pain along with being the underlying reason for many other health issues. Traditional healthcare may temporarily alleviate symptoms with medications and even extreme measures that can easily and effectively be treated by working on the very root cause and not just masking the symptoms. This is where my expertise and extensive training comes in to help you.

HOW DOES TISSUE MEMORY PLAY A ROLE IN PAIN AND OVERALL HEALTH?

Underlying traumas that are remembered by your tissue memory from being in utero, to birth, and to your current state are all embedded within your fascia. Oftentimes, when left unresolved or untreated, pain (physical or emotional) may continue to show up until the buried or subconscious traumas remembered by your tissue memory are addressed accordingly. In working with me, you will understand the significance of your body as it functions as an entire system and interconnected whole on many levels. This is where I meet you exactly where you are in your own process. You can remain as on-the-surface or go as deeply as you allow yourself to. I will support you wherever you decide to let yourself be, every step of the way.
